ASC13 Invitation Letter
To all universities in Asia and whom it may concern：
In contrary to the fast GDP growth, the R&D and applications of supercomputers in Asia need more efforts. For instance, the total shares of Asian supercomputers in the Top500 are less than 10%. Europe and America have paid great attention to the student supercomputer challenges, especially in SC and ISC. However, in Asia, till now, no such student supercomputer challenge has been held so far. This time, we cordially need your support to achieve this.
For universities, this challenge is a great opportunity for public exposure, showing your university culture, training ability demonstrations, and attracting international talents. During the challenge, students will obtain intensive hands-on training with actual case studies, meeting with international peers, and probably find their next step to higher education or job providers.
In order to promote training, study, and application of supercomputing, the first Asia Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC) will be held in China in April, 2013. With the support from INSPUR, the host university is Shanghai Jiao Tong University. To participate in the challenge, each Asian university should send one team, which includes six students and one advisor. These students must be undergraduates. Please refer to SC and ISC.
